Biography
Oh yes - album on the way very soon. We are excited and happy!
Our 3rd single is out in itunes too - it's been getting good radio play and reviews too - altsounds.com wrote we 'have a cult following awaiting them' - yay!!! we can't wait to meet them.
This is turning out to be a super busy year for Venetia, who has made the transition from resident DJ at Turnmills’ The Gallery to front woman of a band with more energy than a Hadron Collider. The ethos is simple; great songs combined with club beats and breaks recreated through the medium of a ridiculously talented live band. Club beats have the space to breathe and explode straight out of the amplifier, controlling your dancing limbs, guitar licks smack you round the chops while the melodies infect your brain completing a total system takeover.
Venetia has travelled all over the shop spinning her vinyl, from Fabric, to Eden in Ibiza; a very talented producer that ran Pear Music, a label that received huge praise from the likes of Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo and Danny Rampling amongst others. Now living back in little London (ie Brighton), she and the band have been working hard to record their album, ‘Keep Moving or Something Will Eat You’
It won’t be hard to catch the band live, their relentless gigging across Brighton, London and beyond doesn’t give you a chance to get away and the Summer landed them playing their festival debut at the Secret Garden Party in Cambridgeshire last year
2008 saw the release of debut single 'You Give Me something’, to a packed out crowd at the OM bar in Brighton. The 2nd single, ‘Warning Song’, along with a video, came out in the winter. The band went on a big adventure with a UK wide tour throughout October. Wick had never seen anything like it!
Since then Venetia and the voltage had plays on loads of radio stations, and have had single of the week on 15 different stations including BBC Bristol, Merseyside and Nottingham and have been receiving great feedback from djs and listeners alike. Its all totally sic.
The Voltage DJs made thier debut at the Great Escape this May and the DJs and band have a mini UK tour coming up in April and May 2010.
Praise for debut single 'You Give Me Something'
Dave Strachan @ Moray Firth Radio - "I really like this"
Andy Howard @ BBC Radio Bristol - "Good debut"
Inga @ SIBC - "We like it"
Albert Freeman @ BCB - "Great single"
